Oracle University Bucharest EXPERT SUMMIT

Let us invite you to attend the first Oracle University Expert Summit held in Central Europe!

This is a unique opportunity to interact with Oracle Gurus, get a first-hand deep dive, and discuss challenges with like-minded people.

PROGRAM:

21st - 24th April 2015 (9.00 - 17:00)

Writing Optimal SQL with Jonathan Lewis
Teaches how to improve performance of live systems by tuning inefficient SQL and reducing I/O overheads. It covers methods of reviewing data distribution patterns, use of indexes, views, analytic functions, subquery factoring, statistics, hints, and a review of execution plans.

Aspects of Ralational Theory with Chris Date
Four talks on different aspects of Relational theory: “What is a Relational RDBMS”, “How to Update Views”, “Nulls, Three Value Logic, and Missing Information” and “The Closed World Assumption”. Relational theory is the foundation of our field, but SQL and relational theory is NOT the same thing! These presentations explain the differences and plug gaps in this area.

Oracle Database Security Audit Training Course with Pete Finnigan
Teaches how to secure data stored in Oracle databases. It covers key issues affecting security in an Oracle database and shows how data leaks occur. It also shows how design and implementation decisions affect date security. Finally it looks at database hacking, unauthorized data access, audit planning, post-audit actions and detailed reporting.

Database Troubleshooting & Tuning with Jonathan Lewis
Teaches the differences between troubleshooting and tuning in an Oracle Database context. It explains strategies for different situations and for dealing with poorly performing live systems.

Time and Relational Theory with Chris Date
Discusses in three parts, the maintenance and processing of historical data and temporal support found in the SQL:2011 standard. “Laying the Foundations,” explains some of the problems of temporal databases. “Building on the Foundations,” address practical issues, including temporal database design, temporal integrity constraints, and temporal update operations. “SQL Support,” explains relevant features of the SQL standard.

Data Modeler with Heli Helskyaho
This one-day seminar teaches students how to design databases with Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler. It explains how Data Modeler works and how you can tune it to fit your needs better and to standardize your database design. It shows how a logical model is designed and how the transformation to relational and physical models is done. You will learn how to generate data definition scripts (DDLs) to create database objects. It also explores the tool’s reporting capabilities and shows how to compare a database with a design to generate DDL ALTER statements to alter the database to meet design requirements. Finally the seminar will also demonstrate how version control works and how to maintain the design of an existing database.

Oracle Big Data Architectures and Market Trends with Alexandru Ciobanu
This seminar aims to cut through the clutter of Big Data and bring you closer to successful utilization of the technology. It will enable you to make better decisions on how and where to use Big Data. The seminar will provide a comprehensive technical introduction to the core components of Big Data, namely Hadoop and NoSQL, and discuss design patterns for successful Big Data and hybrid solution architecture. We will also look at how different concepts map to successful field implementations. This will enable you to evaluate technical problems to determine if Big Data could be a part of that solution, and to evaluate potential architectures targeted at solving complex technical issues.
